Most Jasmine scented tea uses Green tea as a base but this uses Oolong. The great thing about Oolong is that it contains compounds that are naturally sweet and milky (such as Jasmine Lactones) and this pairs perfectly with the floral sweetness of Jasmine.
The base of this tea is an Anxi county ball rolled Oolong very similar to our Superior Iron Goddess (Tie Guan Yin). This is a very high quality green Oolong that retains enough grassiness to offset the Jasmine. The Oolong is hand produced and lightly roasted before being mixed with freshly picked jasmine flowers. The flowers release their fragrance overnight into the tea. The dried flowers are removed and the process is repeated until the exact level of Jasmine aroma is achieved.
