Duration:
This is a 1/2 day course running from 9:45am to 1pm.
This protocol was originally developed in 2001 by Colonel Richard Niemtzow, who developed it for substantive pain relief in combat situations. One of his students, Colonel Heather Pickett, a doctor in the US Air Force brought it to the UK and has used it to great effect in Iraq and in the Nellis airforce base in Las Vegas. As a result, it is becoming well-known worldwide as “Battlefield Acupuncture” and is an excellent “emergency” treatment if you have a client who has just injured themselves, and you cannot manipulate or work on their injury until inflammation in the area has settled down. It can also be used in special Pain Clinics to lessen pain while clients wait for operations, in birth or while broken bones heal.
This course teaches you the knowledge and skills to perform Battlefield Acupuncture with special needles. You need not have any prior knowledge of acupuncture or any other therapy and the course consists of theory and practical hands-on application learning the Battlefield Acupuncture Pain Protocol using the equipment provided on the day.
This amazing course teaches a fast, powerful pain relief protocol for use with your clients, and covers the standard 5 points for this protocol and methodology of use.
We also discuss and teach you the advanced battlefield protocols within this course, learning our specialist cluster and galvanic linking technique to reduce needles and keep treatment time to a minimum.
We show authentic techniques and accuracy of points as taught directly by Colonel Richard Niemtzow, the originator of this protocol, as well as additional tips and techniques for clinical usage. This course includes a full discussion of the theory and physiological functions of this technique, in depth anatomy of the ear and key landmarks for finding points and locations quickly and accurately. It also covers practical needle demonstrations and includes the students marking up on ears to check locations prior to needling. We also have discussions on use of magnets, seeds, and other alternative treatment methods to needles.
Assessment is by observation of students performing the therapy during the practical sessions to establish safe practice. Each student must be observed practising correct, safe, protocol in order to be deemed safe to practice and gain a full certificate. (equates to 3 hours CPD).
